Microsoft Exchange Server is Microsoft's email, calendar, contacts, scheduling, and collaboration platform. It is implemented on the Windows Server operating system (OS) for commercial use. Exchange Server is designed to allow users to access the messaging platform from mobile devices, desktop computers, and web-based systems. This article explains what you can do with it and what the different versions of Microsoft Exchange Server mean.
Exchange Server is an enterprise-grade collaboration
product primarily focused on sending, receiving, and storing email messages. In
addition to message management, Exchange Server offers several other
collaboration features, such as calendars and tight integration with other
Microsoft Office applications.
High availability is one of its main feature. These provide
continuous service in various failure scenarios, including design paths that
can guarantee service during single server or data center outages.

PST
File Meaning
Outlook Data Files (.pst), which are saved on your PC,
contain Outlook messages and other items.
POP Accounts: This is a common type of account that you can
create by adding an exchange server
E-mail account from an Internet Access Provider (ISP), such
as Xfinity or A&T or Cox, downloading all email messages from the mail
server, and save them on your computer.
You can also use an Outlook data file (.pst) to back up or
export items from any type of email account. For more information on how to
back up your email messages, calendar, contacts, and task data, see Export or
back up email, contacts, and calendar to a file .PST from Outlook. You can also
import email messages, calendar, contacts, and task tasks from another Outlook
data file (.pst). For more information on importing items, see Import email, contacts,
and calendar from a file .PST from Outlook.
Because these files are stored on your PC, they are not
subject to mailbox size limits imposed by mail servers. By moving items to an
Outlook Data File (.pst) stored on your computer, you can free up storage space
in your mailbox on the mail server.
EBD
Files Meaning
Database created by Microsoft Exchange Server. Serves as
the primary repository for Exchange-saved mailbox data, stores both in the
process and stored messages that are not SMTP; formatted with a B-tree
structure, which includes one top-level node and many child nodes. Priv1.edb
and Pub1.edb are the main EDB files used for the Exchange information store.
Each has a corresponding .STM file that contains the SMTP messages.
